We've written previously about the Obama Administration's Open Government Directive . Much of the report draws on information from the recent McKinsey study " And the Winner Is...: More information on legal issues is provided on nextgov .
Among other things, the Directive has led to a proliferation of innovative " ideas sites " across the federal agencies.
Last week the White House issued a new memorandum titled " Guidance on the Use of Challenges and Prizes to Promote Open Government " (PDF) — a further step towards citizen engagement.

L et’s face it, the Obama Presidential campaign was one of the most successful social media marketing efforts in the history of the internet. can count on my fingers the number of major US companies that understand new media the way the Obama campaign did.
(Incidentally, Incidentally, how long do you think it will take Firefox to put “Obama” in their spell-check dictionary?)
I This is really not that surprising, given the involvement of people like Chris Hughes , one of the founding fathers of Facebook, as Obama’s online organizing coordinator.

have followed the campaigns of Obama and McCain filtered through the Dutch news. But it's a nice opportunity to find out more about how Obama leveraged the social media- I have heard it was a great campaign and his team made good use of the media in general and social media in particular. I'm a fan of Obama (like 90% of the Dutch I believe!), The netsquared thinktank question is this time: ' What was the best example or lesson learned about leveraging social media from the political campaigns this year?' There has been a lot of talk over the last year of Obama’s election as the first social media election . And it is certainly true that there is much we can all learn from how Obama used social media as a candidate during the election process. It is in social media that the wealth and depth of information is to be found. Image by youngrobv (Rob & Ale) via Flickr
But over the last couple of days we’ve seen another use of social media in elections - reporting on the fallout from the election results in Iran.

The incoming Obama administration is pledging to use some innovative internet strategies to expand citizen access to government information and processes. (This This gets us at Forum One pretty jazzed - we've been evangelizing a long while about using online services to expand public access to information, enable new forms of collaboration, and build online communities.)
The A few of the things The transition team says the new administration will seek to expand the transparency of how the government works and give Americans new ways to participate in deliberations and decision-making.

For some personal details about Dean Baker, see the book information at the bottom of this entry.
8220; President Obama could not find any economists who were able to see the housing bubble for his economic team. Suppose that President Obama made $10 billion a year available for state and local governments to support various types of creative and artistic work. Great example of how stimulating/promoting/funding open and participatory processes makes economic and policy sense. I’m only quoting the 3 ‘p2p’ related policy proposals out of a total of seven
