if you ask me; and once again this week I will be putting things to the test when I travel to London to participate in the SOMESSO / Headshift Social Business Summit while I keep wondering what the network connectivity would be like, both at the event and at the hotel I’m staying. After I came back last Friday from a couple of recent business trips to both Madrid and Barcelona to speak at the Lotusphere Comes To You events, and while still recovering, slowly, from a nasty cold I caught on the plane back home, I’m starting to get ready for my next business trip; taking place next week Wednesday and heading to London for Thursday’s SOMESSO / Headshift Social Business Summit . But, hang on, before I dive further into what I will be doing at the Social Business Summit, just wanted to let folks know that I’m already on the process of putting together

Managing staff who participate in social networks.
This list also includes policies called; Staff blogging policies, enterprise social network guidelines, Employee Blogging Policies, Staff engagement in online communities, and so on. I’ve done a few press (radio, print) interviews this week re: Telstra so I thought I should have another look at how Enterprise, Government, Corporates, Not for Profits are handling the fact that their staff are members of social networks too.
I once had to step in to calm down a forum that was off the charts with negativity and

I’ve been co-designing and c0-facilitating a number of workshops for the CGIAR and FAO over the past few years about knowledge sharing, and more recently, this phenomenon people call “social media.” Social Media Strategy Planning & Measurement - What’s Working?
With social media, however, strategy is 8221; Part of this work has been to comb through resources and create some launch pads that are relevant to NGOs and non profits. I

While most people out there think that Social Software is all about new, fancy social tools, available on a more engaging and participative Web, I thought you folks would enjoy the following quote from one of my fellow IBM colleagues, Adam Christensen , who happens to know a thing or two (And plenty more! heh) around the subject of social computing:
"[...] 34;[...] here’s the main point: That culture is, in my view, the most overlooked, underestimated factor determining whether social media succeeds or fails in a company.

would be very interested in any other social media guidelines that you think are useful, especially those for activity within the enterprise. As the use of social media grows within the enterprise and on the Web, the need for policies and guidelines to govern employee behavior becomes more essential. Effective use of social media requires that employees can act on their own to produce content without review by Corporate I am cross posting this from FastFoward to get more feedback and perhaps additional examples. Last year, Forum One recognized that one of the key issues community and social media professionals face is that we (as an industry) are suffering from a lack of solid benchmarks, including compensation of online community and social media professionals. In July of 2008, as part of our ongoing research efforts with the Online Community Research Network , we conducted the first comprehensive study and gained valuable insight about online community and social media professional's compensation, team structure, and current job satisfaction.

Continuing further with some of the highlights from IBM ’s Lotusphere 2009 event that I attended in Orlando, FL, in January 2009, I thought I would cover what, to me, was one of the most inspiring and thought-provoking moments throughout the entire event. Specially since it ties in, quite nicely, with a couple of blog posts I have shared over here recently around the topic of Social Software and figuring out its Return on Investment or ROI.
Those moments were actually a number of conversations that throughout the event I had the pleasure of having with my good friend David Tebutt , who was also at Lotusphere (And who blogged his experiences over at his own blog ), where we eventually brainstormed for quite a bit on the whole thing around the subject of proving the business value of social software.

I have mentioned already a couple of times how my first contact with social software tools inside IBM , my current employer, was around the year 2000, when one of the communities I still belong to (And still one of my favourite ones , too!) From there onwards, the continuous learning experience of transitioning from traditional collaboration and knowledge sharing tools to these social tools has been quite exciting, to say the least. decided to put together a wiki where we could all contribute and share our knowledge across. But I am sure you may be wondering when did IBM

amp; Social Software (Part 3)
amp; Social Software (Part 2)
amp; Social Software
While a lot of my research agenda and client interactions focused on collaboration and Enterprise 2.0 / social software during 2009, the most sizeable amount of time and energy for me this year was spent on social media, social networking, and social analytics (externally as well as internally).

with interesting presentations I have bumped into, or that other people have forwarded to me as they come right along my areas of interest and focus, specially in the area of Social Computing within the Enterprise (a.k.a. The next presentation I am going to talk to you about though is eventually one that I have enjoyed myself quite a bit as it puts together some interesting slides on how IBM is making extensive and good use of social software, both internal and external, at the same time that it details as well how social software is influencing IBM’s involvement with A Smarter
