The first of those articles includes some original research in IBM (which we checked out elsewhere) which showed that the ratio of informal communities to formal communities was 1:10K or put another way if you half the number of HOME JOIN NEWSLETTER LIST ABOUT WHAT WE DO WHO WE ARE OPERATING PRINCIPLES CONTACT US ANNUAL REPORTS PRACTITIONERS NETWORK DIRECTORY OF PRACTITIONERS SEEKING ACCREDITATION PRACTITIONER LOGIN EDUCATION ACCREDITATION NARRATIVE RESEARCH SENSEMAKER COMPLEXITY SOCIAL COMPUTING COURSE COMPARISON METHODS METHODS WIKI RESOURCES ARTICLES BY DAVE SNOWDEN ARTICLES BY OTHERS CASE STUDIES PODCASTS PRESENTATIONS INFLUENTIAL BOOKS

Ok, now that you have read Oscar’s article, check out the absolutely delightful piece that my good friend, the always insightful, Euan Semple , has put together over at infoBOOM under the title " The Trojan Mice Approach to Enterprise 2.0 ", where he touches based on one of the recurring themes I have been mentioning on this blog for a long while already; and that is the critical role that people (Knowledge Workers) play in the successful adoption of Enterprise 2.0 Tags: People , Trust , Oscar Berg , Control , Command and Control , Value Creation , Business

I have mentioned already a couple of times how my first contact with social software tools inside IBM , my current employer, was around the year 2000, when one of the communities I still belong to (And still one of my favourite ones , too!) But I am sure you may be wondering when did IBM *really* got started with all things 2.0 However, decided to put together a wiki where we could all contribute and share our knowledge across. From there onwards, the continuous learning experience of transitioning from traditional collaboration and knowledge sharing tools to these social tools

IBM partners with a well-known human capital management vendor that has a strong offering in the LMS/e-Learning space. The Saba partnership provides IBM with a few things:
It allows IBM to exist this business and provide existing Lotus Learning customers a migration path (to Saba)
Interesting news item - on the one hand, it seems straightforward. It allows IBM to sell Saba's learning solution directly (augmenting the value proposition of WebSphere Portal via a learning accelerator)

Most of you folks know that I have been working as a Social Computing evangelist at IBM full time for the last two and a half years now and still going strong; before I was doing plenty of Knowledge Management, Collaboration and Community Building and social software evangelism was an additional activity coming out mostly out of my own private time. During all of this time I have been thinking about my role as a technology evangelist , specially in the area of Social Software, and its impact within the corporate world. Today’s blog post is actually a reflection I started writing about yesterday already for which I still don’t have a good, final answer I would feel comfortable with; and perhaps I never will; but more often than not it’s keeping my mind busy somewhat trying to figure out whether it would even need to be answered at all in the first place or not.
