Various commentators are noting that geo-location looks set to be the tech-tool darling of 2010 – and as if to prove them right, here comes ChatRouletteMap, a jolly useful mash-up which pinpoints the precise position of the site’s least wholesome users, and – super-satisfyingly - lets them know that they’ve been tracked. Forrester recently released a report on What’s Holding Back Your Intranet? They found that 93% of employee respondents said they use an intranet or company portal (Forrester uses the terms interchangeably) at least weekly, and more than half reported daily use. Access to collaborative tools, what some might called an enterprise 2.0 by Tim Waters with Matthew Brown and Sara Burnes. They were kind to share a copy with me.

Forrester’s Alex Cullen recently released, The Top 15 Technology Trends EA Should Watch and they were nice to share with me. The summary states, “Forrester has identified 15 technologies with the greatest potential for business impact, and we’ve grouped these technologies into five themes: social computing for enterprises, process-centric information, restructured IT service platforms, Agile applications, and mobile as the new desktop.

So here are the phases and my responses to them: Phase 0: Fragmentation As the usage of collaboration tools grows in an unmanaged and unconsidered way, so does the "fragmentation" of information. Phase 1: Gardening The starting point is to identify Which is interesting because I have as well. As ever, James is practical & clear in his thinking and suggests a 5 phase model (0-4) for organisations thinking about collaboration.

The GCO website references a number of independent research reports on the use of gaming for non-educational purposes by IBM , and Forrester .
