The company wants cash, and an immediate order to prevent the two networks using their invention. SOCIAL STATS ... Consumers are not terribly keen on paywalls, it’s fairly safe to say: an enormous 81 percent say they’d plump for online ads if that meant free content, according to Pew Research’s latest poll. E-commerce is still growing, both in the UK and across the water: predictions for the British market are for 10% compound growth over the next five years, with a remarkably similar figure of 11% suggested by Forrester in the US. However, Facebook is clearly keeping a gimlet eye on its reputation with regard to child safety: the Guardian reports that the network is threatening to sue the Daily Mail, over an article which claimed that 14-year-old girls who create Facebook profiles could be contacted "within seconds" by paedophiles who "wanted to perform a sex act" in front of them.The researcher behind the article (despite appearances, not the author) says the paper inserted the claim into the story, even though he told them that the site he tested was not in fact Facebook. CIO Magazine reported that Forrester recently released new research that indicates that despite the advent of heaper alternatives to Microsoft Office , Office remains strong. The Forrester results found that nearly 92 percent are supporting either Office 2007 or Office 2003 or earlier. Forrester's also found that “a large majority of companies surveyed have plans to upgrade to Office It continues to mostly shut the alternatives out of the enterprises despite reduced budgets and a struggling economy. However, they did say that as the economy worsens cheaper alternatives

Sally Falkow reports in Blogs are Better Business Drivers Than Social Networking Sites that a recent study “ Harnessing the Power of Blogs ,” (sponsored research by BuzzLogic and conducted by JupiterResearch, a Forrester Research company) found that blogs can have more impact on purchase decisions than social networks. The study went on to conclude that while social networks help people connect, but blogs create a conversation and become a trusted resource that influences purchase decisions. They also said that blog readership has jumped 300 percent in the last four years.

In it, they refer to the publishing of some new Forrester research:
The new “brand advocates,” as Forrester suggests renaming the role, will be seemingly more powerful and consumer-centric, much nimbler, and more real-time-oriented than the brand manager of today — and they will be a lot more opportunistic in creating media partnerships, and a lot less loyal to their agencies.
Among the specific recommendations in its report, “Adaptive Brand Marketing: Rethinking Another week, another blog post on the subject of “why creative advertising folk need to embrace ‘technologists and their geeky ways’” once again ignites vigorous debate.
