People often ask me to have a look at brand new social networking sites . typically decline, as I prefer to invest my time checking out social sites that have already gained acceptance.
However, this week, when my blogging friend John from EZGreatLife.com sent me to a social media site that might help me brand myself and tie together Twitter , Facebook , LinkedIn and other social networking sites, I decided to investigate.
I Accounting for my motivation was an expectation that the aggregation of social websites will be a major focus of 2010,

Briefly this week they started showing location on Tweets on their site – with maps overlaying tweets on both the individual tweet page and on the main stream. This update was quickly disabled but adding this back in would certainly add significant value to the Twitter site and pave the way for search for people and issues that are trending ‘near me’ – based on where people are when they share their information and not where they say they are in their location.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that everybody makes predictions at the end of a year about ‘the big thing for next year’.

The rapid growth of Facebook and Twitter has created lots of excitement.
Facebook , MySpace , Twitter , LinkedIn and Ning are ranked 4th, 11th, 25th, 89th and 154th among all websites in the world, respectively.
Facebook , Twitter , LinkedIn , and the Ning family of social networking sites are the most popular social networks with wide business appeal. Alexa ranks the world’s most popular websites. From a business point of view, MySpace has become primarily a niche site for the music industry.

Back in June 2007 I wrote a popular tutorial on writing Facebook platform applications with Ruby On Rails . Time has moved on since and Facebook has launched Facebook Connect which allows you to integrate Facebook into your own sites allowing authentication, registration, friend connecting, and Facebook feed posting in the context of your application. Research released by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) in the UK suggests that people are growing increasingly tired of requests to join brand pages or install brand applications in Facebook and other social networks . Rather than a brand trying to engage people separately in Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter and every other social network and forum site, it is better to use these as gateways to somewhere else. The research found that almost two in every three of the 2,000 respondents to the survey were fed up with the constant requests to join groups and try new applications.
