Anyway, here’s a summary:
- cloud services as offered today (including Gmail, Google Wave/buzz, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube…) are bad (engineering-wise) and the opposite of P2P/empowerment/democracy… because they (re)introduce and make even look trendy and cool centralized points of technical failure and political/economical control. Wired Magazine’s Italian issue reported on this one, and I might do a summary translation for either the p2p blog or the ning group. (Now Netsukuku is a p2p based new routing protocol that could - for the purpose of linking users’ computers in a p2p cloud - replace the IP numbers-based addressing and routing that is the system currently in use to link servers to users in the internet.

However, this week, when my blogging friend John from EZGreatLife.com sent me to a social media site that might help me brand myself and tie together Twitter , Facebook , LinkedIn and other social networking sites, I decided to investigate.
Coming in on the ground floor (as I did with Twitter and Ning ) will facilitate the building process — and the gift for becoming a beta tester will be a plus.
People often ask me to have a look at brand new social networking sites . I

The rapid growth of Facebook and Twitter has created lots of excitement.
Facebook , MySpace , Twitter , LinkedIn and Ning are ranked 4th, 11th, 25th, 89th and 154th among all websites in the world, respectively.
Facebook , Twitter , LinkedIn , and the Ning family of social networking sites are the most popular social networks with wide business appeal. Alexa ranks the world’s most popular websites. From a business point of view, MySpace has become primarily a niche site for the music industry.

Privacy and spam concerns continue to induce Facebook and Ning to make changes that hurt marketers. Facebook, for example, will end network affiliations, while Ning has already disabled the sharing of any content across participating sites.
Good-Bye Facebook Networks

Serena has Adopted Facebook as Their Intranet by Bill Ives November 28, 2007 at 8:42 am · Filed under Enterprise 2.0 A few weeks ago I wrote a post, It is Time for Facebook Fridays: A Idea that Should Spread , that briefly mentioned Serena Software’s policy of allowing employees one hour of personal time during the workweek to spend on their Facebook profiles and connect with co-workers, customers, family and friends. In my first post I referred to an article on their policy which I felt was somewhat mis-titled, Serena Software

A comment last week to my October 2008 blog post, Ning Social Networking Sites Update , linked back to Ning Exposed - Tech Company Scams its Clients , an article which sharply criticizes Ning’s latest business model and platform, and it alleges foul play on Ning’s part in reacting to complaints by network creators.
As a Ning social network creator and user, I happen to appreciate Ning’s recent platform improvements and tend to disagree with the article’s assessments. While the allegations of censorship are disturbing, my careful reading of Ning’s Terms of Service leaves me hopeful that Ning has acted fully within its rights.

When speaking with Chris last week about inSocialMedia , the 3,200 member Ning network he started to enable practitioners to discuss social media strategies, I agreed to join his site’s team. As we get more and more connected through social networking services like Linkedin, MySpace, Ning and Facebook, the commercial nature of those services starts to intrude into the picture in a somewhat discordant manner. After all, what we are constructing here is the linked-up global intelligence of humanity and that should not necessarily be in the hands of commercial interests.
Enter Insoshi , an open source project to develop the next social networking service.
