Enterprise Instant Messaging (IM) Most systems allow instant messages to be logged. People not involved in the instant messaging or group chat session cannot view the content of those communications through the IM client applications. Email can be used for point-to-point communication as well as group communication (through distribution lists or by addressing the message to additional people). Templates??? illustrate infrastructure and act as blueprints organizations can leverage as they make decisions on IT architecture.

Within an enterprise, any type of "Twitter" system will be linked to directory systems in much the same way as e-mail and instant messaging systems are linked via address book synchronization techniques. Within the enterprise, this will be viewed as a messaging system.
