Not long ago I posted about how our Communities of Practice (CoP) are hitting a sweetspot …bottom-up and grass roots tools that provide more of a sense of place and better coordination over email, and are more enabling than the Intranet.
We still need this official and sophisticated tool for support management, but CoPs as a support tool are definitely cutting into their lunch.
Great cross-functional CoPs are emerging like Bulk Materials Handling, Sustainable Development, Software Architecture and Approaches, 3D Visualisation and Animation, Bauxite and Alumina, etc..

Helen, Ruth and Nadine are in the Information Management group at Telecom NZ.
Helen said the current intranet has 13,000 pages.
ECM" covers web site, documents, collaboration and workflow. The new intranet is in place -- the infrastructure is in place. Helen Rayner from Telecom New Zealand is kicking off day two of the NZ SharePoint Conference. Helen and a couple of her colleagues (Ruth and Nadine) are talking on success factors for MOSS 2007 for ECM.

maybe a community only want forums, or maybe they just want a blog and a place to store documents, etc…
Members can additonally write blog posts, interact in forums, and add documents. lot of the time it’s not what they are after, they didn’t realise “communities are conversations”, and they were just after more of a document management (DM) type thing. This is a follow-up to my Community Lessons post, and Community paradox post.

Océ is a leading international provider of digital document management technology and services. For this post I spoke about their SharePoint efforts with Jan van Veen, Manager Internal Communications, in Corporate Communications and Tom Dombret, the technical team lead on the SharePoint effort.
Their intranet served as the main publication platform but it had no collaboration capabilities. This is the fourth in a series of interviews with Océ, about their Enterprise 2.0 implementation and adoption experiences.
