The current state of “social media” for many businesses looks more like an episode of MacGyver than Apple’s design process. We have to move on from such a shallow definition of “social media”. David Armano. Photo uploaded to Flickr by jdlasica

Process is "how work should be done." I wrote about eating or fishing last week, and about the same time Bill Ives posted Is there Tension in Enterprise Collaboration (referencing Bruce Lewin's detailed thoughts in The Tension in Collaboration ). those that want it loose and human.

We’ve spent a great deal of effort over the last two years smashing painstakingly integrating Agile thinking into the strategy and design practices, but at the other end – the delivery end of the process – Agile is too often neglected soon after launch.
Sometimes the fervent adoption of Agile methodologies that happened during the Vision and Service Definition phases turns out to be superficial and temporary. Anjali’s blog post on ‘ Measurement versus engagement ‘ made me think.
This shouldn’t be surprising.

I use the examples of km4dev (see interview Lucy Lamoureux ) and the IFRTD networks (see evaluation ) and the lessons here are definitely that you have to mix face-to-face and online communication creatively and that it really help to have a dedicated network leadership, consistent over time. I just finished preparing a presentation about the art of fostering online networks in development; with a focus on producer organisations in the south (for a session with progresonetwork ). While preparing the presentation I thought again about the fact that the basics of online networks are still

Not that I don’t want to talk about blogging anymore, but I definitely don’t want to talk primarily about blogging and especially being known as “the one who knows something about blogging”. [ This is actually the one that’s more challenging: I’m stuck in unproductive routines, being stressed by the amount artefacts, digital and otherwise, that have accumulated in wrong spaces while I tried to focus on the core activities of getting the PhD done and making sure my family survives in the process. While lots of people tend to focus on the positive side of finishing a PhD (which is, of course, a great achievement :) I feel more like the one who is just released from a prison.
