Cognitive Edge: Communities of Practice : I was an observer in a debate recently on the question of whether a community of practice had to be self-organising, or if it could be directed. My own view is that communities can evolve, but cannot be designed top down. So begins one of my favorite education writers although I think he might be more appropriately thought of as a learning advocate. Communication in communities is a bit further from actual work, but still has lots of connection with it (e.g. While I came with the communication egg model to talk about things missing in distributed teams I feel that it could be useful in more contexts.

The vision of the Community Driven Institute is a healthy, vibrant, resilient, peaceful, humane world. To make that vision a reality for all of us, the mission of the Institute is to encourage and support the Community Benefit sector to leverage its considerable resources to do so.
There must be ample proof that it is not only possible but practical (and simple) for “nonprofit” Community Benefit organizations to create visionary community transformation
* In developing our plans for the next 12-24 months, we started with that vision of a peaceful, vibrant world and reverse engineered the cause-and-effect conditions that would ultimately lead to that vision.

This is a reblog of a guest blog post I did on Darren Sidnick’s Learning & Technology Blog: What the heck is a Domain and why should I care? (CoP In the first in our series on communities of practice, (CoPs) I briefly mentioned Community, Domain and Practice. What is Moodle? According to their website: "Moodle is a course management system (CMS) - a free, Open Source software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities. I needed an e-learning programme, so I started searching different applications to see what my options were. You can download and use it on any computer you have handy (including webhosts), yet it can scale from a single-teacher site to a 50,000-student University." The next interview took place at June 27, 2006 with Camillo Villa from HIVOS. Moodle “At HIVOS we use D-groups very intensively, as well as Skype.

This is the sixth in a series of blog posts I wrote for Darren Sidnick . I

It is eventually linking to a videocast from one of the folks I have been following and admiring for a long while now, who is successfully shaking the corporate ground trying to wake us all up into new, much more engaging, meaningful, efficient and effective methods for Learning while at work. Yes, of course, I am talking about Jay Cross and his passion about Informal Learning .
I am sure you would agree with me the last couple of blog posts I have been sharing over here are rather lengthy, don’t you think? So to try to tame the beast once again, and get
