They have been constantly bombarded by the media, the government and pliant academics intent on making them believe that they are to blame for the failures of a system none has ever voted for. Already farmers have blocked main roads leading to the north and Bulgaria, making Barroso threaten legal action. Below is a first excerpt from a very important, crucial editorial by Costas Douzinas in the Guardian, which calls for resistance against EU/IMF imposed policies which have already a record of destroying many economies. But resistance is not enough, alternatives are needed.

Welcome to our round-up of all that's new, controversial or just plain weird on the social media scene in the last few days. It's come to our attention that these round-ups are perhaps a leetle long for our loyal, yet time-starved readers. And what else are you going to read on your web book when nature calls? THE HEADLINES... The social media beach was afroth with anticipation this week, as excitement over Google Wave’s beta roll-out reached Point Break. With this in mind, we have divided it into two easily-digestible chunks: Social Life (here), and Social Business ( there ).

Among those funded were the Civic Forum in Czechoslovakia, Solidarity in Poland, Union of Democratic Forces in Bulgaria, Otpor in Serbia, and, more recently, similar groups in the succession states of the USSR. It is hard to know how much native support existed for the Western-funded revolutions, as media and information (especially if we can’t read Mongolian, Bulgarian, or Uzbeki) are produced by the same conglomerates.
