As more trained journalists move into the amateur blogging space, what are the fundamental differences in the blogging style between the two? While some journalists adapt to the new writing style well, understanding the media shifts and blogging well as part of the blogosphere, other journalists that blog – let’s call them journoggers – stand apart from the blogosphere, raiding it for content, and disturbing equilibrium. Please note: that might well be a good thing to do or it might cause the journogger to eventually be rejected.

They believe the answer to this problem is, no surprise, enterprise social software: Activities and interactions that occur in blogs, wikis and socialnetworks naturally provide the cues that are missing from currentexpertise-search systems. search engine that mines internal blogs, for example, where workers post updates and field queries about theirwork, will help searchers judge for themselves who is an expert in agiven field. Sacked journalists take to blogging? Accepted in Typepad’s Journalist Bailout Program. [link] Being incurably nosy, I went off to look at Typepad’s “ Journalist bailout program “. Now called Typepad for Journalists. I was on Twitter’s party line for the Monday night (USA time) chats on journalism #journchat, and was a little taken aback to see the number of journalists tweeting about losing their job, papers closing, and so on. Then this one caught my eye.

Widgets are, hence, little blocks of information which can be added to a blog, mostly in the sidebar. Almost any kind of information can be widgetized and offered in a blog as an additional feature. Why widgets are important and how they can spice up your blog Blogs alone are nice, but with widgets you can upgrade your blog to an information portal and stimulate interactivity. This is a joint post together with Christian Kreutz , which we co-created in a google doc . (mine mine is a little longer though) 1.

Back in 2006 I called it SMS blogging, but now that’s all changed as the major use is the web and desktop applications (incl. Perhaps we can compare it to similar tools like blogs, forums, IM, email, Facebook and RSS Readers, as Ross Mayfield has asked ( Mike Gotta has thoughts on this also).
I can post a tweet as a publishing in the open (similar to a blog or newspaper), whereas in IM I only interact if there is someone on the My first post on Twitter was back in October 2006, and since then Twitter has come a long way; evolved from the architecture of participation, and the emergence of the platform .

A while ago I posted on YackTrack , which is a solution to catching comments made about your blog posts that happen in other blogs and places.
If I want to see a list of blog posts that have linked to one of my blog posts, all I do is do a link search in Technorati
This is great as now I am aware of both people who comment directly on my blog post, and also people who talk about me (link to my blog Well now there is a new contender , BackType , which is the same comment network I posted on a while ago (once you register it finds comments you make without you having to submit them in Backtype, and you can also network with other profiles).

So I am very pleased that she has started a blog. Her blog, Conversation Matters , continues this work with very comprehensive thought pieces.
recommend taking a look at her blog. As a disclaimer, I advised Nancy in starting her new Typepad blog. I have known Nancy Dixon for some time and have always respected her work in knowledge management and organizational learning. Nancy is well known for her many books, including Common Knowledge and heads her consulting firm, Common Knowledge Associates .
