The Bottom Line with Evan Davis is another BBC Radio4 podcast. Sadly John Byrne, Executive Editor, seems to have handed over his host role to others in the editorial team. I’m a podcast fanatic. I listen in the shower, on my cycle to work (sorry mum, I know that’s not safe) and when swimming (using the excellent Speedo Aquabeat ).

On my return I turned to my three favourite sources for getting up to speed quickly on what’s been happening: BBC News, Twitter and Google. Both the aftermath of the Iran election and the death of Michael Jackson have highlighted the role that users can play in generating news content. Last week, the BBC Trust gingerly announced provisional approval of the BBC’s Project Canvas .
One organisation we wont see supporting the project is BSkyB who claim the proposal is anti-competitive and not within the remit of the BBC.
This is how I believe the BBC sees convergence, and their role within it.
The aim of Project Canvas is to define a set of standards for set-top boxes that will allow integration of web and TV. Although, it isn’t clear exactly what the standards will consist of and what Project Canvas’ vision of

(picture from BBC article) The BBC writes about virtual weddings in Zimbabwe . "Zimbabwe's Playwright and cultural analyst Stephen Chifunyise says: "It does satisfy minimum requirements, because in the actual process of paying lobola, the couple does not play a major role," he says, explaining that everybody appreciates the reason they are out of the country. Zimbabwe's traditional weddings, usually joyous occasions with singing, dancing and plenty of food, are now increasingly being held in the absence of those whose presence might be considered vital - the bride and groom. " Couples living abroad find it hard to be there for the traditional wedding ceremony, so instead send money home for the ceremony to take place without them.

These include papers like The New York Times, which see a much larger readership of their online platform, supported by a slowly improving level of targeted advertising to its new, larger audiences, and international sources like the BBC or Al Jazeera, some of which at least depend on state funding.
Less prominent than the large collaboration platforms like Daily Kos, individuals play an important role in this new information ecosystem. The newspaper example suggests that even if we could completely shut down peer-to-peer networks, we should still expect the recording industry to decline over time as consumers gravitate toward more efficient and convenient sources of music.
