Of course, in order to protect the existing business model, the NFL has to hobble the new one, so GamePass isn’t available in the US. Obviously broadband take-up and bandwidth need to improve. I made bad choices for the first two time-slots at SXSW, so I had high hopes for the third, PayTV vs Internet – The Battle For Your TV , featuring Mark Cuban of HDNet and Avner Rosen of Boxee .
It was good to see a debate between two people who genuinely disagree by 180º on how the future of TV will pan out, even if some of the argument was basically dick-swinging.

As long as we are getting rapid economic growth and increased access to broad bandwidth, all is well. And, of course, such institutions are what provide much of the actual framework for how we live together. Paul Fernhout unearthed this older piece from Langdon Winner :
“One especially foggy area in cyberlibertarian rhetoric is its depiction of matters of power and distribution. Who stands to gain and who will lose

The idea is that all these applications will be - and actually already are - used for communication among colleagues within the Alliance and of course also with partners in the South. Most of the tools also work with low-bandwidth conditions, but of course this is less applicable for lets say video sharing. By Maarten Boers During the October 12 meeting of the e-collaboration group I presented the communication system that is being developed by and for the ICCO-Alliance with the very appreciated help from Euforic ( [link] ). We cal this system the “ComPart-flowers”,

Of course with interactive maps the data depend on the number of participants willing to add their information to the maps. Of course you need to add locations to your photos on flickr to be able to create such a map. An example of a map used for activism I got a question from someone about maps. I

This is NOT an attack to net neutrality, of course. A contribution from Marco Fioretti , reacting to an earlier post :
“I would like to share some thoughts and doubts I’ve had for years about the “fast, universal Net access for everybody” dogma.

This podcast comes from an overview of social media monetization revenues presentations and courses that I’ve been running for the last few years.
Unlimited bandwidth
We look at Freemium revenue in social networks and online communities including asking that: if freemium is the business model of giving it all (or most) of the services away for free , how can you then charge for it? And what is free stuff anyway – marketing?
