hospitals need to learn how to learn from the global use of low-cost, effective (often mobile) tools in Africa and elsewhere . It explores in detail a series of examples — everything from the history of squatting in the American West to HIV drug activism in South Africa to mashups and gay marriage — in which such property disobedience played a crucial role in sparking legal reform or led to needed legal clarification, with as pecial emphasis on technology, innovation, and civil rights. The Best from the Communities and Networks Connection Community

I thought I could list all practical examples I gathered so far, so that if people want to know about communities of practices in a development cooperation context I can refer to this blogpost. The list is longer than I thought: Community of ICT4D trainers ILO/CIARIS experiences in lusophone Africa Communities of practice in India CoP in Ghana Tech forum in Kumasi, Ghana The community empowerment network in Central Asia Ayuda Urbana, a cop on urban development in Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean Communities of practice at CARE International E-collaboration amongst
I did an interview with Bill Williams (ESTBarreiro, Setubal Polytechnic, Portugal) who talked about linking participants from courses run by ILO/CIARIS for Portugese speaking practioners in Africa working on combating social exclusion in a guest blogpost . I was interested to know more (and to my surprise I found out Bill is not a Portugese national as I assumed, but originally from Ireland).
A lot of stories about innovation in Africa were floating around my head from the special report on telecoms in emerging markets in the September 24th 2009  issue of The Economist: Mobile marvels ).  Sikeku participated in the discussion, which tied some of the issues from his experience to other examples where donor funding for a community had turned out to be quite problematic.  Last week at the KM4Dev conference in Brussels , I struck up a conversation with Joseph Sikeku, who talked about community leadership and technology stewardship in a radically different setting: a radio station in Tanzania.

Most groups did not cite the need for financial resources as the major concern, most concerns were centred on roles played by the core group and alternatives to share the burden or succession arrangements (very recognisable from my experiences in Africa as well). The example which struck me was the example of the MBTI synergy group: The MBTI Synergy Group was a spontaneous creation of all the people who attended the MBTI accreditation course in April, 2004. (MBTI SCD and Intercooperation have commissioned a study called Experiences with communities of practice in India , an important resource published in december 2005.
Laurie Elliott reflects on African Competitiveness and the need to leverage networks Writing for The Web Brainstorm Magazine South Africa Laurie Elliott notes that company and industry competitiveness starts with knowing the full value, tangible and intangible, a company brings. Then, developing the space, including strategic networks and infrastructure to deliver and leverage that value. Is Africa ready to compete globally? If you read the Africa Competitiveness Report 2009 by the World Economic Forum, you get the sense that it isn’t. Although progress is being

An example of a command is /me which is short for your name. Easy if you're in a discussion with a bunch of people and only want to be notified if someone is talking about "financial" things for example Tip 4: You can create a link to a skype name, for instance in an email. When we did small skype conferences during an online event for capacity building advisors, this allowed people who had travelled to remote places to listen to the recordings lateron. Tip 6: If you start skype you can add some options (image via Communigations ) Riny Heijdendaal, Harry van Oosterveen, Dorine Ruter and Simon Koolwijk have shared some skype tips, so together it makes for a list of 10 Skype tips for the Advanced skype user. Examples were shared of the Educafroc wiki, a private wiki to support a conference in West Africa. I’ve sat on the board of a privately held language school since 1996 and I’ve seen that, without the strictest approach to cost-control, for example, the customer can end up paying for the institution’s inefficiencies. In Our example A Praxis Pass, for example, offers full access to 4 languages for about 80 cents per   Via Stephen Downe s, Judy Breck believes, and I agree, that the economic crunch will speed the advent of network learnin g.
