A detailed example of an internal value network for technical repair This blog is adapted from the paper, “Value Creating Networks: Organizational Issues and Challenges,” being published in November by Emerald in The Learning Organization Special Issue on Social Networks and Social Networking . This example demonstrates how value network modeling can bring fresh insights into even long established organizational structures and processes. A large utility company wanted to improve their ability to handle complex technology repairs and improve their service delivery.

While our goal for the Lotusphere keynote was to provide concrete examples of how Sametime could pay for itself within a year, we did not set out to provide an exhaustive TCO model. if you were at the keynote, you may have noticed that our composite Renovations, Inc example was followed by one from a German manufacturing firm. The more specific example is appreciated but that doesn't really excuse John Del Pizzo from the IBM Sametime team responded to my post - but, I'm not persuaded by the counter-arguments.

The two principal issues to address while trying to create ongoing links between course participants are (1) to establish the medium, platform or instrument for maintaining contact and (2) to create a sense of community of practice and habit of exchange , which depends a lot on motivation. I did an interview with Bill Williams (ESTBarreiro, Setubal Polytechnic, Portugal) who talked about linking participants from courses run by ILO/CIARIS for Portugese speaking practioners in Africa working on combating social exclusion in a guest blogpost .
